Controlling Dust Mites in your Home

Encase mattresses, box springs, and pillows in zippered, dust-proof covers.
Remove carpets especially in the bedroom if possible.
Avoid heavy curtains and venetian blinds. Use light washable curtains.
Wash blankets in hot water every two weeks. Avoid wool or down blankets.
Cover air vents with filters.
Keep relative humidity @ 35-40%.
Vacuum floors several times a week, and upholstered furniture once weekly.
