Cockroaches
The cockroach, man's enemy as far back as Cleopatra, is once again making the news. The question is, can a cockroach make you sneeze?
You can be allergic to decayed cockroach. An old house that may have been infested long before you moved in may have cockroach bodies in the walls. Waste elements from contemporary cockroaches can cause an equal amount of trouble. And yes they can make you sneeze.
For living cockroaches call an exterminator. However, for many people, pesticides are as toxic as the roaches. If this is the case you may want to try mixing equal parts of dry oatmeal or sugar with baking soda or borax. Or you can use a commercial roach trap.
If you think you are allergic to decomposed cockroaches your ENT allergist will be able to confirm or deny your suspicions.
Dr. Hart is available for questions, evaluation and treatment of allergy.
